There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.

She’s wrong.

Happy Book Birthday, Across the Universe!

Lizzie     Jan 11th, 2011     Awesome Things     0 Replies

So. Today, there’s this book out. I’ve never, ever talked about it before and you’ve probably never heard of it . . . Boy, do I wish sarcasm translated better over the internet.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis is now avaliable at bookstores everywhere!!!!! Yes, all the exclamation points are necessary. If you’ve read my review, then you simply must understand that necessity. It is a must read of 2011. It has everything I personally have ever wanted in a book: action, adventure, claustrophobia, a little dash of romance but not too much, and of course, space! Seriously, it takes place in space. Be still, my beating nerd’s heart!

Have you seen the new, official site yet? If you haven’t, then click that link over there and go experience its epicness! Prepare to be enthralled. The whole site is incredible and so different from any other book website I’ve seen but my favorite part is that you can actually explore Godspeed! It’s cool enough that the book takes place on a spaceship but knowing that you can also be apart of it on the site is just . . . well, freaking awesome. So what are you waiting for?

Penguin, the publishing house behind Across the Universe, did this interview with Beth on the book. Definitely check it out below!

Penguin also set up a Facebook page that you can like! And to celebrate, they’ve been doing giveaways of signed, finished copies of AtU! Head over there to enter for a chance to win one!

Also, from 11:11 AM to 11:11 PM today, 1-11-11, io9.com will have an exclusive excerpt from the first 111 pages of the book. How cool is that? So if all those cool goodies above couldn’t convince you, there’s still a chance to not be lame anymore! I don’t know about you but if I’d read this post instead of written it, I’d already be in my car on the way to Borders to snatch it up. Still need convincing that this book is totally and completely worth your time? *cough*weirdo*cough* Well, then, watch the book trailer!

Be sure to visit Beth’s official website and blog, as well as follow her on Twitter. Because not only is her book awesome, but she is witty and her tweets and blog posts are so much fun to read. And while you’re at it, make sure to visit Penguin Teen’s website, like them on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter! Have I convinced you to buy Across the Universe to experience its awesomeness? Well, you can do that at your local bookstore or from one of the following retailers: Borders, Amazon, IndieBound

Merry… Erm, Happy New Year!

Lizzie     Dec 30th, 2010     Awesome Things, Random Things     0 Replies

I just wanted to take a quick second to say Happy New Years to everyone that reads this blog! I’ve been so busy (and if I’m being honest, lazy) lately that I haven’t had much time to dedicate to the blog as I would like. Fear not, though! In 2011, I will have many, many, many reviews and more. I have BIG plans for Darkly Honest. =) So please check back! My first review of 2011 will be up on Saturday.

HAPPY NEW YEARS 2011 TO EVERYONE

PS.. have a Tumblr? Follow me! =D

New Layout!

Lizzie     Oct 19th, 2010     Awesome Things     0 Replies

As you can tell, Darkly Honest has a new layout! I hope you like this one better than the last. Truthfully, the last one was SO UNORGANIZED. And we cannot have that! Can we?! Therefore, I’ve put this one up to make my OCD shut up. I’ll be changing some of the colors over the next few days.

It is a little less than 13 days until November and do you know what that means?

Yes, it is National Novel Writing Month! How excited are we? VERY VERY EXCITED. Not. Even. Kidding.

Are you participating? Great! Add me as your writing buddy! Not participating? Loser. That’s okay too. Just follow my blog because, if I win NaNoWriMo, I will hold a speshul giveaway for my followers! And it MAY be international. MAYBE. We will see, okay? Let’s say, I get over 52,000 words and 30 followers, the giveaway will be international. If I get between 50,000 and 51,999 words and 25 followers, it will be US and Canada only. Okay!

Tomorrow, I will have a post about my meeting Cinda Williams Chima, New York Times bestselling author of the Heir Chronicles and the Seven Realms Trilogy! It was exciting and fantastic and Cinda is awesome.

Upcoming Reviews:
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Hope in Patience by Beth Fehlbaum (Coming November 2nd)
And more! Check back soon to see all the reviews I have upcoming.

And I’ve Mooooved!

As you can tell, I have moved to Blogger! I’m still to broke to afford a domain, and since I desperately wanted Javascript widgets, I decided it was time to move. I have some things I’m planning which will work out even better here. =) And I have a Followers widget! So please press that follower button so I know who’s reading!

Cover Reveal of Forever by Maggie Stiefvater!

Lizzie     Sep 27th, 2010     Awesome Things     0 Replies

If you haven’t already guessed, I’m a massive fan of Maggie Stiefvater. She’s got some major talented, and not just with writing. She’s an accomplished song writer, bagpiper, and artist. She really knows how to torture you when you read her books. And make you cry. Or maybe that’s just me…

Maggie revealed the cover for the final book in her Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, Forever, this morning. Check it out!

I don’t know about you but I think it’s stunning. It’s a lot different from the other covers, while staying true to the theme of the others. If I saw that on the book shelf, I’d definitely be drawn to pick it up. You know what sucks, though? We still have 10 more months to wait for it! =( But fret not, my dears! You can preorder a SIGNED copy of the book at Fountain Bookstore and it’ll arrive your doorstep the second it’s released (Well, not long after, at least). How’s that for NOT SUCKING?
